Luge

Luge racing is a winter sport that has arisen from sledding. There are two different disciplines: Artificial Track Luge and Natural Track Luge.

Artificial Track Luge

In this discipline the luge is raced down a man-made track. The slider lies on his/her back and uses leg pressure and shifting of the torso to steer.

Natural Track Luge

In this discipline, the track is not man-made, but rather a on a forest road or track resembling a switch back mountain road. In addition to the legs, the athletes also use their hands or arms to steer.

The current most successful Swiss luge sliders are Martina Kocher, Gregory Garigiet and Stefan Hoehner.
